Bostik has supplied a range of flooring primers, smoothing compounds and adhesives to support BBC’s flagship home renovation programme, DIY SOS: The Big Build.
The show relies solely on the support and generosity of the local community of tradespeople and suppliers to carry out the work, to help transform the homes of truly deserving families.
For its latest project, the Big Build team, including presenter Nick Knowles and interior designer, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, headed to Avening in Gloucestershire to the home of dad-of-two, Ben Wernham.
In April 2016, during a family holiday in Cyprus, Ben slipped while walking along the side of the pool. Tragically he landed on his head in the shallow-end breaking his neck in three places, leaving him paralysed.
After months of treatment in both Cyprus and Germany, he was finally flown back to the UK, where the Salisbury Spinal Unit made amazing progress with him over the last 12 months. However, Ben spent a year alone living miles away from his family as his home was unsuitable for his care.
With the help of the local community of tradespeople and suppliers such as Bostik, the house has now been adapted to allow Ben to be reunited with his young family.
We were delighted to support such a worthwhile project and wish Ben and his family lots of happiness in their newly-refurbished home.
