How would you describe your current role?
Very customer-focused, so I’m out on the road all the time. I cover quite a large area so it’s a lot of miles, and really a lot of it’s about plate-juggling. Keeping everybody happy at the same time can be quite challenging, but it’s something I really enjoy.
What’s the best thing about working at Bostik?
Definitely the team. We’ve had some changes in the last year or so – we now have a North and a South team, which makes it competitive as well, which is great. Obviously I’m in the northern side, so I like to give our southern team a little bit of banter.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
Honesty and integrity. If you say you’re going to do something to the customer, do it. The key to this is making notes to remember, because you can come out of a meeting saying you’re going to send some information on the product, and you’ve missed six phone calls and 12 emails, and the next minute you know you’ve forgot to send that information.
What has been your proudest moment?
My proudest moment would be winning the specification with Bloor Homes. They had a couple of issues on site and we came in and created a specification to suit their needs. They like to level the floor perfectly as a temporary layer before going in to finish the flooring at the end of the job, and for us this has turned out to be really beneficial not just in the south but for the whole nation.
If you could be any character from film or TV, who would you be and why?
Definitely Tony Stark for me. Billionaire. Ladies’ man. And obviously he’s Iron Man. What’s not to like?
